SEMINAR 2019: “FROM BIOMECHANICS OF SCENIC MOVEMENT TO EXPRESSIVE ACTION. EMOTIONAL GESTURE”

in Lucca (Tuscany, Italy)

from 2 to 12 August, 2019

(August the 7th  rest day)

The course offers a method that combines the basic principles of actor training and its application to working on text.

THE PROGRAM IS COMPOSED OF THREE SECTIONS.

Section One:

DEVELOPMENT OF PSYCHOPHYSICAL QUALITIES OF THE ACTOR. INDIVIDUAL, PAIR AND GROUP TRAINING.

Exercises for flexibility, coordination, tension, balance.
Exercises with objects: chair, table, stick, ball, etc.
Individual and pair acrobatics.
Exercises that develop a sense of partner, a sense of space, speed, time.
Falls, wrestling, brawl, stage blows.
Section Two:
DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRINCIPLES OF THEATRICAL BIOMECHANICS

The concept of position and sense of form of movement.
The concept of «failure» — the preparation and the feeling of the beginning of the movement
The concept of «Point» — a sense of form and degree of tension in the position. Il
The concept of «brake» — a sense of inertia.
The concept of impulse and its development in motion.
The concept of «Send» — a sense of movement (strength, amplitude, drawing,
character
The concept of «Phrase» — the transition from movement to action.
Work on the composition of the movement based on the principles of theatrical biomechanics.
Working with music, as with a partner in plastic compositions.
Work with music as an emotional provocateur.
Search for emotional movement, gesture, provoked by music.
Alignment of the plastic composition based on the material found.

Section Three:
EFFECTIVE ANALYSIS OF DRAMATURGICAL TEXT AND ITS PRACTICAL APPLICATION:

Concepts «Situation», «Event», and «Action»
The principle of dividing the action into phrases.
Playing with action in «Failure».
Expression of action through word and movement.
 Physical characterization of the character.
Building the game actor on the principles of theatrical biomechanics.
